Negatives
French negatives wrap around the verb like a sandwich: ne + verb + negative word
Level 1 ne...pas only | Level 2 All negatives

⚠️ In Perfect Tense
The negative wraps around the auxiliary verb (avoir or être):
Je n'ai pas joué (I didn't play)
Je ne suis pas allé (I didn't go)

Contractions with à and de Level 2
When à or de meet le or les, they contract:
